In the early 1700 Florida had dozens of ranches by the St. John’s river. In the 1800 the seminoles had 5,000 to 50,000 herds. The seminoles had to move away a lot because they had to let the cows eat lots of grass.

It said that people had cattle ranches all along the St. John’s river so when when people brought cattle the cowboys could rest. It also talked about how the Indians rounded up cattle and brought them to the market to and it said that they would be herding cow herds up to 5,000 to 50,000 cows at a time.

They would round up all the cattle and there was about 5,000 to 50,000 cow rounded up. They would let the cattle roam every where for the green grass that they can eat. They would crack the whip so the cattle new to go in a strate line so that will lead them to the market

Well the cows ran free so then they had to get the cows. They would use a 10-12 foot long whip to get them back in there line. They had horses and dogs to to get the cows out of the marsh. They also would ride on horses so they didn't have to walk. They would have tools, those tools were horses, dogs and whip.

The herds ranged in size from 5,000 to 50,000 head. Rustling was prevalent throughout the state. This was use Florida was an open range. There was not a fenced pasture anywhere in the state and cattle roamed freely. The early cowboy would round cows up miles and miles of open plains, in the hammock, and by the rivers and streams. Then they would drive the to market.

They will get a horse. Use the horse to round up the cows. They had a whip. They used the whip to whip the cows together. They will round up the cows up over miles and miles of open plains, in the hammocks, and by the river and stream. Then will drive the cows to the market.

The herds of cow were big as 5000 to 50000 head. In the 1700's there were rail road track to make it easier. But before all that they rounded the cows up and , got a few dogs, got the horses and left. If a cow got out off the herd on the way to the market they would have a whip to get the cow back in place. They were used for beef and milk.

In the 17th century they used 12 to 13 foot whips made of braided leather. It made a loud noise so the cattle will move and stay together in groups so they don’t lose any of the cows.

To start, there were already dozens of ranches on the ST Johns river. First the cattle moved south. One reason they moved south was that they needed new pastures. But their was no fenced pastures so they roamed freely. The herd size was 5,000 to 50,000 head. At one point trains came to Florida to ship the cattle.

So the cowboys really needed a horse and a dog to catch cattle. The cattle’s herd gets up to 5,000 to 50,000. The people also had cattle ranches all along the St. John’s river. They would normally eat the beef from the cows, sometimes sell the cattle.

some cowboys are called crackers because they can crack a whip real loud. cowboys back then herded the cows from place to place by cracking the whip real loud to get loose cows to come back and a dog to keep them going forward. the herd can get as big as 5000 to 50000 cows.

They would take a 10-12 whip and snapping them made a noise that made the cattle come into a straight line fast. Then they would drive them to the market.

Now listen they couldn't just go to Walmart or Publix and get beef like we do now instead they have to catch the cattle and this is how they did it ,in the 1800's the St.John's river had dozens of ranches and in order to catch the cattle they needed a10-12ft whip ,a horse, two dogs, fire and iron, and rope . They would chase the cattle with the horse and dogs and whip it a few times so they represented to the Trap which was to trick them and hold their feet together online they would take the iron put it in the fire for a couple of minutes, marked the cattle, let them go oral catch up with them after marking the others once they the cattle for a couple of months they would go to the market or sell them for gold coins, and they would usually get up to 5000- 50000 which was very difficult but good around once they realize there was trains they shiped the cattle and when war came I bet it got very difficult.

What you would do to catch cattle is use a 10-12 whip or horses and dogs. But so they got new food the owners put a mark on them and let them roam new land. To get them to the market they would drive there.
